copper, enamel

The work attempts to capture buddha’s moment of enlightenment, during which he saw the morning star and understood the meaning of life. I decided on a bowl form for this work because using an alms bowl is a necessary ritual for a buddhist monk. An empty bowl also holds possibilities of being filled up by everything and nothing. The exterior of the bowl is a soft white which exudes a humble and pure feeling, and inside the bowl are deep, flowing blues sprinkled with white constellations.
