The town of Puli is located in the heart of Taiwan, surrounded by misty mountains and a calm lake. In recent years, human greed has led to large-scale development projects, resulting in careless destruction of forests and landscape.
A local resident, the artist collects loose soil from the disfigured land and stones from a river at the edge of an ever-growing waste mountain. She employs hand embroidery, a slow and time-consuming technique, to create a letter and a prayer flag—protests against rapid development.
This series of works is inspired by the concept of "deep ecology" and created with the concept of the "ecological self.” Her work addresses nature and all its creatures by using soil and stones as ink. In this form, regret, repentance, and prayers are stitched into translucent silk, then hung in the violated environment. Like Tibetan prayer flags, the artwork will flutter in the wind and spread its sentiments in all directions.


埔里鎮有台灣心臟之稱,四面環山鄰近日月潭,常以好山好水聞名。近年來埔里地區大型開發案頻傳,大規模地貌改變、山林破壞,當地居民擔心將嚴重影響環境生態。
作品使用材料來自身處的鄉鎮:建案進駐開墾後的地表土壤、無力處理廢棄物而滿溢的垃圾場鄰近石頭,透過反覆採集動作,紀錄下人與自然互動的議題。同時藝術家運用緩慢耗時的手工刺繡技法,在小面積的布面縫入土塊和石頭進行創作,期望以徒手之力對抗象徵快速大規模變遷的土地翻新計畫。
作品以書寫信件為方式、以大自然萬物為表訴對象、並以土塊,石頭等自然媒材為語言。將其內容縫製為旗子,吊掛於被破壞的環境,是為紀錄、為道歉、也為祈福。一如在藏傳佛教裡可見的風馬旗,藏人相信在旗上印上佛像,經文或咒語等,當經幡隨風搖曳,上面的內容將會隨風送至四面八方。
透過製作帶有正向意念能量的文字和符號,為此破壞的山林河川帶來療癒與警惕,也等待著觀者省思與發掘自身與自然的關係。
